Description

The program provides primary healthcare professionals with an update in Emergency Medicine and looks to support those undertaking the certificate or diploma in Emergency Medicine.

This program is federally funded so is available free to all Healthcare professionals working in rural and remote South Australia. This will consist of two 2 day workshops, optional mentoring and online resources. The workshops are held approximately 4-6 months apart compromising of skills teaching, small group tutorials and simulation based education techniques. This program contains the latest updates in Emergency medicine; in addition a survey will be performed for each location allowing the workshops to be tailored to local needs. The program will be led by FACEMS and other content relevant experts.

The following skills are included:
• Basic Airway
• Advanced Airway - including the Vortex approach
• Surgical Airway
• ALS - CRP, defibrillation, post resuscitation care
• Advanced Circulation - IO, RICC insertion
Trauma - chest tubes (Seldinger and surgical), c-spine collars, pelvic binders, femoral traction devices

Updates in the following emergency presentations:
• ALS
• Complex Trauma
• Difficult Airway
• Paediatric
• Obstetric
• Cardiovascular
• Respiratory
